Privacy Policy
Version 2026-08-22.1 ยท Effective August 22, 2026
VidStranger records every chat. This policy explains exactly what is captured, where it is stored, how long it is kept and who is able to see it.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what VidStranger collects, why it is collected, how it is stored, and who can access it. It should be read alongside the Terms and Conditions. Using the Service requires acceptance of both.
2. What we collect
Nickname and a randomly generated anonymous guest identifier. Full text of every chat message, with timestamps. Files you upload or share. Audio and video recordings of every call in which you participate. Technical metadata including IP address, browser user agent, session start and end times, and connection diagnostics. A record of your acceptance of the Terms, including version, time, IP address, and user agent.
We do not require an email address, phone number, or account to use the chat. Administrator accounts, used only by the Service operator, do require an email address and password.
3. Why we collect it
To operate the matching and calling functionality; to keep the Service safe and to investigate abuse; to respond to legal process, regulatory requests, and claims; to maintain evidence of consent; and to improve reliability and quality.
4. Who can access it
Recordings and transcripts are stored in private storage and are accessible only to authorised administrators of the Service through an authenticated dashboard, to our infrastructure providers acting as processors under contract, and to authorities where disclosure is legally required or permitted.
5. Retention and deletion
Records are retained for as long as necessary for the purposes described above and may be retained indefinitely where required to respond to a legal claim or investigation. Administrators may delete an individual session and its recordings at any time. You may request deletion through the contact channel published on the Service; we will comply unless we are required to retain the material.
6. Security
Recordings are stored in a private bucket that is not publicly readable, are served only through short-lived signed links issued to authenticated administrators, and are protected by row-level access rules at the database layer. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not warrant that unauthorised access will never occur.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and portability in respect of your personal information. Requests may be made through the contact channel published on the Service. Because chat sessions are anonymous, we may be unable to locate your records without additional information such as the approximate time of the session and the nickname you used.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to and may not be used by anyone under 18. We delete records associated with a user we determine to be underage, except where retention is required to report or respond to unlawful conduct.
9. International transfers
Data may be processed and stored in jurisdictions other than your own, including Canada and the United States, whose data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. By using the Service you consent to such transfers.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The version identifier and effective date at the top of the page indicate the current version.
